Poem Preview: "Poetry in Motion" Excerpt

This is from my unreleased 2nd poetry collection, Poems of Destiny, and the poem that this passage is from is called "Poetry in Motion".

This poem best exemplifies my writing because I take inspiration from many types of media and entertainment, and this one notably comes from my love of music. This poem has 100 music songs sampled, much like an actual song that samples from other songs, and it strings together a cohesive narrative while maintaining a sense of awe and nostalgia that connects to all other music lovers. I will be releasing it in full with my second poetry collection, Poems of Destiny, once I complete my final set of poems.

Our visionary elders of an earlier time,

Holding on to yesterday,

Their days of future passed,

While the dead flag blues have come to pass,

And I see a bad moon rising,

As lightning crashes on the horizon,

This mad world of toxicity,

Affects the air that I breathe and the starless skies,

The sound of silence, do you realize?

A black hole sun through purple haze,

Ain’t no sunshine in this masquerade,

Everyone’s under pressure and paranoid,

God only knows how much sympathy for the devil

or killing in the name our nation can take,

The madman across the water mocks our disarray,

The kids with guns pave a boulevard of broken dreams,

People are strange, but that’s the way of the world,

I see young Americans try to get comfortably numb

or closer to God, but they’re falling away from me,

And are actually down in a hole,

Or in a white room, a schism of the soul,

I can’t go for that

To read the rest, stay tuned for my upcoming second Poetry Collection!
